On Christmas Day back in 1999, after opening our gifts, we walked over to the recording studio and started the World’s greatest family tradition.
With an acoustic guitar and a stripped-down drum kit consisting of a kick drum, snare and hi-hat, Matt and I laid down the basic tracks to The Beatles’ song “All Together Now”.
Since then, after opening gifts on Christmas morning, we convene in the recording studio to record a new Beatles’ song. Our aim is to reproduce The Beatles’ sounds, instrumentation and performances as closely as possible. We take some liberties with vocals because, lets face it, John Lennon and Paul McCartney are one-of-a-kind voices and we’re not them. But we do spend a lot of time making sure we have all the parts and sounds.
We’ve recorded eleven songs in total and have completed mixes and masters on ten of them. This year we let the world in on our tradition with an album release ten years in the making.
Introducing The Bartles’ Crappy Road album. Enjoy our renditions of these Beatles classics. You can listen to the album in its entirety on the Music page.
